Saturday 3rd December 2005

Greetings rockers and ravers, lovers of the flavas.

I'm sure that everyone who was at this week's Unity agreed that they saw something pretty special - The Drum Extravaganza was like nothing I've ever seen before. Big thanks to Thorin, Neil and Carlos for an amazing performance! Thanks also to everyone who jammed, to Chris for his acoustic set and to Dj's Local and Ben.

So the coming week:

Unity

This week we have 3 Unity debut's for live artists:

John Litchfield is a face many of you will recognise from his days with the Fox Force Five and with Evil Macaroni. He'll be performing an acoustic slot for us.

Mesh 29 are band quite focused on the acoustic style. They've been having a lot of success locally and run a promotion that showcases local acoustic artists.

Our third live act, The Underachievers are one of the few live electronic acts in the city. With their performance based on funky breakbeats and beats combining with live sythesizers, guitars and voices you can expect to see something unlike anything you've seen before.

Dj's for the night are to be confirmed.

And don't forget to get in nice and early for the Unity Jam - and get involved.

As always free before 9:15 and £3 after.

See you there.

Other events

Friday -

The Fidds is hosting a one-off gathering providing space for open mic slots for musicians, and space to jam. There will also be DJ's playing fun stuff. It will be nice and cheap early on - more details to be confirmed but i'll mail with further details later in the week.

Also on Friday System Abuse are in the Vibes Bar on Lincoln Road. Doors are 9 till late and entrance is £3. Drum and bass mayhem and good vibes assured.

Last but not least, local acoustic wonder James Chadwick is taking part in the Grand Final of Radio 2's Young Folk Musician of the Year competition. It's being held some way away in the distant north-east but if you can go and support James please do. We are sure his considerable skills will wow the judges and the audience. If you would like more details visit http://thejameschadwick.co.uk/

Saturday -

The Opaque jam and open mic session is in Bogarts on Saturday night, which will be much fun for sure.
The Indigo night is also at Fidds.

Grassroots Update

The Charity gig for the 17th December is shaping up to be HUGE!

We've attached the flyer. Please spread the word, print the flyer and give it to your friends and family, post it on websites, shout in the streets about it, dance for joy about it - oh yeah, and come along on the day and enjoy it too. Unfortunately the flyer doesn't quite show the complete line-up as there are more and more confirmations flowing in all the time. But it should give you a good idea.

Have a great week everyone.

Peace love and Unity.
